Budget Cuts is an early PC VR hit. It will soon be released as an upgraded version for current VR platforms, along with its successor.

Back in 2016, Budget Cuts impressed with its innovative locomotion design, which turned teleportation into a central gameplay element.

As an office worker about to be replaced by robots, you must use a futuristic teleportation devicegood timing, and a lot of skill with scissors and other throwing weapons to prevent the totalitarian machines from taking over.

Two years after its compelling free demo, the finished VR game was released in summer 2018 for PC VR headsets. At the end of 2019, the sequel Budget Cuts 2: Mission Insolvency, developed together with Fast Travel Games, followed. Finally, in 2020, the first part was released for Playstation VR.

More than 300,000 VR players have played Budget Cuts so far. An impressive success for the Stockholm studio Neat Corporation, especially since the two VR games have not even been released for the largest VR platform, Meta Quest.

Budget Cuts Ultimate will be released on June 1

The VR game, which will launch on June 1 for Meta Quest 2 and Playstation VR 2, is called Budget Cuts Ultimate, includes both games and offers more than ten hours of entertainment. The studio promises a version of the game that has been “upgraded and polished for a new generation of VR players”.

Features include mutators that allow you to customize the gameplay experience to your liking (bullet time mode, gravity settings). Budget Cuts Ultimate also includes an arcade fashion for party play with your friends, including a local high score system, repeatable levels, and three difficulty levels.

Players who have only been following VR for a few years may be familiar with Neat Corporation’s Garden of the Sea, which was released in 2022 for PC VR headsets and Meta Quest 2, and recently launched for Playstation VR 2.
