Zach Tsiakalis-Brown is in talks with Sony about bringing his PC VR hit to PSVR 2. A version for mobile VR headsets is not planned.

PC VR developer Zach Tsiakalis-Brown has confirmed that he is in talks with Sony about a possible release of Vertigo 2 on the PSVR 2. Although there are no concrete plans yet, Tsiakalis-Brown shows great interest in the project and considers an implementation “ definitely possible”. However, he rejects a release for Meta Quest 2.

PC VR hit Vertigo 2: yes to PSVR 2, no to Meta Quest

Tsiakalis-Brown said in an interview: “I’m really interested in [Vertigo 2 on PSVR 2]. I’ve talked with Sony a little bit about getting a partnership going. So no concrete plans, but I would love for that to happen, and I think it’s definitely possible it’ll happen.”

The VR developer was also asked about a possible conversion of Vertigo 2 to the Quest platform. He confirmed that several representatives from Meta had contacted him, without asking directly about a Vertigo 2 port.

“I’ve had several Meta people reach out and be like, “Hey, are you interested in a conversation?” And I’ve just kind of gently turned them down because I’m pretty committed to not working with Meta.”

Tsiakalis-Brown has publicly criticized Meta in the past, accusing the company of doing a disservice to the VR industry with weak Metaverse marketing (see tweet above).

Not a mobile VR hater, but not keen on restrictions either

While the PC VR advocate isn’t a die-hard mobile VR hater, he wants to avoid limiting his vision of Vertigo 2 for mobile VR headsets. That’s why he chose PC VR as the sole platform for Vertigo 2, he said.

Even though PC VR games like Half-Life: Alyx or Vertigo 2 would not run on mobile VR, there are still many good VR experiences on standalone platforms, the Vertigo developer added.

Instead of limited ports, Tsiakalis-Brown would like to see more processing power in mobile VR headsets and a wider range of manufacturers: “It would also be nice if Meta wasn’t the biggest player.”
