Best Buy revealed new details about Meta Quest 3 with an early web store listing, including the resolution.
Meta Quest 3 will have the highest resolution display of any Meta headset to date. That much is known from Meta.
Thanks to a webshop listing from US retailer Best Buy, we now know with a high degree of certainty what type of display it will be and how much higher the resolution will be.
“See dazzling visuals come to life with a nearly 30% leap in resolution from Quest 2,” reads the product listing. Further down, LCD is listed as the display type.
The single LC display of the Meta Quest 2 offers 1,920 by 1,832 pixels per eye (total display resolution: 1,920 by 3,664 pixels). Firmware sleuth Samulia previously found hints that Meta’s Quest 3 prototype (codenamed “Eureka”) uses a single LC display with a resolution of 2,064 by 2,208 pixels per eye (total resolution: 4,128 by 2,208 pixels).
This would be a little less than 30 percent more pixels, which is exactly what the web store listing says. According to Samulia, the display supports a frame rate of up to 120 hertzjust like Meta Quest 2’s.
New touch controllers come with replaceable batteries
The webshop entry also lists the model number and SKU number, as well as the official price: $499 for the 128GB version of the device, all of which was already known. Meta will announce another model with more memory at a later date. Its storage capacity and price are not yet known.
Another technical detail can be derived from the listed box content. The box contains 2 AA batteries for the Touch Plus controllers. This would confirm that the devices use replaceable batteries instead of an integrated rechargeable battery like the Touch Pro controllers. The headset itself, as seen in the announcement trailer, has contacts for a charging station that will likely be sold as an optional accessory.
All other information about the device, which will be released in the fall, can be found in our summary article about the Meta Quest 3.
